Description of Duties & Responsibilities: This position will be assigned to coordinate and instruct in the Center’s Fire Instructor Series, Fire & Emergency Services Section. Participates in needs assessment, research, design and evaluation of statewide public safety training programs. Demonstrates teamwork and a high degree of customer service. Instruct topics including Fire Instructor and other assigned specialized topics, including Fire Officer. Long periods of standing, riding, driving, bending, and squatting required. Year-round training in all weather conditions. Wearing of personal protective equipment: Full Turnout Gear.
Minimum Qualifications: Minimum 5 years’ progressive experience with a fire service agency with one year of work experience as an instructor providing training development and delivery in various Fire-Service related topics. Candidate must have experience using Microsoft PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications: Candidate must possess the capability to be a self-starter with administrative and record-keeping skills to include experience in Microsoft and Google platforms, as well as course development and design. Preference may be given to those applicants who possess one or more of the following:
• A minimum of five (5) years recent fire service work experience;
• Have extensive experience instructing in a fire service training programs;
• Have specialization in an advanced subject areas such as Fire Instructor, Fire Officer and other high liability fire service training courses;
• Possess NPQ Fire Instructor III and/or equivalent, Georgia P.O.S.T. General or Level 2 Instructor certification.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED AND Four years of work experience in law enforcement, firefighting, EMS, rescue services, or 911 Communications. Two years of work experience as a full-time instructor in peace officer, fire service, EMS, rescue topics, or 911 communications topics applicable to area of assignment, OR Four years providing diversified training development and delivery applicable to the area of assignment as an adjunct instructor on special assignment. Must possess or have the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire Georgia P.O.S.T. instructor certification and any other specialty instructor certification applicable to the area of assignment. Be in good standing with Georgia P.O.S.T. and any position specific certifying agency.Equal Employment Opportunity Employer
