POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
POSITION: Human Resources Coordinator - Operations

POSITION DESCRIPTION: This position is responsible for planning, organizing, and coordinating within the Human Resources Benefits and Payroll area. This position works closely with Payroll and includes the supervision of assigned Human Resources Staff members. This position liaises with other supervisors and employees including but not limited providing training, guidance, and information regarding leaves, benefits, and other related responsibilities. This position also liaises with, consults, and ensures compliance with external agencies. Assists employees with benefit processes and ensures compliance with state and federal regulations. Also assist with employment processing (on-boarding and off-boarding) and handling of confidential employment related records and information contained within the HRIS.
MAJOR DUTIES:
BENEFITS/PAYROLL MANAGEMENT
- Coordinates and updates Benefit Presentation for new hires for onboarding and in preparation for Benefits enrollment process. Provides Benefits training to supervisors and current employees as needed. May delegate and oversee benefits training during onboarding process.
- Coordinates with senior leaders and others to develop strategies and plans including providing benefits training, communications, and updates as necessary.
- Tracks Health Insurance and Flexible Benefits enrollment.
- Updates current employees on benefits changes and prepare them for Open Enrollment.
- Serves as liaison between college employees and insurance administrators (State Health Benefit Plan and Georgia Breeze) for general issues with the plans.
- Ensures all flexible benefits are stopped for terminated employees.
- Serves as point of contact for completing employer’s portion of Short-term and Long-term disability claims.
- Reports Workers’ Compensation incidents for medical care as needed. Liaises with employees and ensure appropriate tracking and handling of claims.
- Enters employee’s leave, approve, and make changes (including with benefits) as necessary.
- Generates monthly reports of employees benefits and assess for inconsistencies and corrections that need to be made.
- Reconciles monthly State Health Benefit Plan premiums for all participating employees.
- Uses good judgement, decision-making, and problem-solving when making adjustments to employee’s health and flexible benefits deductions to balance the monthly benefits report.
- Reports benefit premium adjustments to payroll for updates to employee’s monthly checks.
OPERATIONS
- Assists HR Director of Operations with Reasonable Accommodations requests
- Assists with various Admin Leave and other SAO/TCSG leave provisions and interpretations
- Provides support to employees regarding HR Operations/Processes and directs employees to appropriate point of contact
- Supports with job description reviews, revisions, organization
- Learns role of HR Director of Operations and may serve as back-up for same
COMPLIANCE ROLES
- Processes employee requests for FMLA and other leaves. Advises supervisors and others accordingly. Ensures all FMLA laws are upheld. Communicates with Directors as needed and determines when LWOP must be entered. Reports and enters LWOP adjustments to Payroll for updates to paychecks/benefits.
- Verifies leave is updated and correct for employees on all leave types.
SUPERVISION
- Provides direct supervision of HR Specialist-Benefits and Retirement
- Provides ongoing coaching and feedback and prepares mid-year and annual evaluation
- Hires, trains and assures continuous learning
- Assures completion of all mandatory training
HR PROCESSES MANAGEMENT
- Performs entry of employee records and runs reports related to the data in GA@Work, Excel and other HRIS systems.
- Provides cross training that may be needed for the position functions as self-identified or identified by Director. Understands how to reconcile TRS/ERS reports if needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned and may back up the Benefits/Payroll department within the scope of responsibility area.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field and two (2) years related work experience.
- Note: Experience may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated
SALARY/BENEFITS: $51,373.38 annually. Benefits include paid holidays, annual leave, and the State of Georgia Flexible Benefits Program. Please be aware that Chattahoochee Tech employees will be paid by direct deposit, unless exempted by the State Accounting Office based on “hardship” evidence provided by the employee.
TELEWORK: Position is eligible for telework up to 80% of a 40-hour workweek with supervisor approval.
