Job Description:
The HR Generalist plays a vital role in supporting the organization’s human resources functions, ensuring compliance with HR policies and fostering a positive workplace culture. This role is responsible for overseeing key areas such as recruitment, employee relations, performance management, benefits administration, payroll support, and compliance. The ideal candidate is a proactive, people-oriented professional with a strong understanding of HR best practices and the ability to balance employee advocacy with organizational goals.
Under the supervision of the Executive Director for Human Resources, the generalist’s primary job functions include:
- Responsible for providing information to employees regarding the employment application and interviewing process;
- Composes and posts recruitment announcements and processes selection of candidates;
- Provides information about employee benefits for new hires and existing employees, including flexible benefits, health benefits, and open enrollment;
- Coordinates and processes Flexible Benefits packages for new employees and during open enrollment periods,
- Processes and verifies retiree pre-employment verifications,
- Prepares and conducts new hire orientation for hourly and salaried employees and prepares and maintains files and records;
- Receives and processes drug tests, medical screenings, criminal, credit and motor vehicle background requests;
- Collects, verifies, maintains and records leave according to state and federal guidelines;
- Conducts leave audits when requested by employees or managers;
- Transfers, scans, and indexes human resources reports;
- Reviews and processes personnel, payroll, and position transactions,
- Including coding for payroll which includes but it not limited to maintaining project codes, combination codes, and position numbers;
- Acts as a backup for preparing separation notices;
- Assists with disciplinary actions and maintains trust and confidentiality
- Completes required training and other reports;
- Coordinates programs and campaigns;
- Responds to inquiries about the technical college/system office and its employees;
- Provides support for human resources processes such as employment, compliance, benefits, transactions, leave, performance evaluations, or payroll;
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records, including personnel files and HRIS data.
- Prepare HR reports and analytics to inform decision-making and track HR metrics
- Performs general clerical duties such as answering the phone, maintaining files and other duties as assigned.

- Knowledge of state and federal employment law.
- Knowledge of college/TCSG/State pay and benefit processes.

Experience with Workday Human Capital Management (HCM) or similar Human Resources information systems preferred.
Minimum Qualifications:
Completion of an undergraduate degree from an accredited four year college or university, and three (3) years of professional-level Human Resources experience, and experience using PeopleSoft HCM. -OR-Seven (7) years of professional-level Human Resources experience and experience using PeopleSoft HCM.Equal Employment Opportunity Employer
