Albany Technical College seeks a well-qualified, highly motivated individual to serve as a Part-Time Legal Studies Instructor. Under general supervision, the instructor will teach Legal Studies courses at the diploma and associate degree level in daytime, evening, hybrid, and/or online formats. The instructor will provide effective instruction, evaluate students’ progress toward course goals and learning outcomes, and prepare and maintain required instructional documentation and administrative reports. The instructor will maintain an appropriate and secure learning environment, collaborate with program faculty on curriculum and instructional matters, and contribute to the success of the program, college, and its students. Strong computer skills, knowledge of online instructional delivery, familiarity with learning management systems used in postsecondary education, and excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
Minimum Qualifications: The applicant MUST possess a Juris Doctor (J.D.), Doctor of the Science of Law (J.S.D.), Doctor of Judicial Science (S.J.D.), or Master of Laws (LL.M.) from an American Bar Association (ABA) accredited law school.
Preferred Qualifications: The applicant MUST possess a Juris Doctor (J.D.), Doctor of the Science of Law (J.S.D.), Doctor of Judicial Science (S.J.D.), or Master of Laws (LL.M.) from an American Bar Association (ABA) accredited law school *AND* have a minimum of 3 years of verified professional experience in the legal field, and 1-2 years of teaching experience.
Physical Demands: Work is typically performed in a classroom with intermittent sitting or walking in various settings. The employee occasionally lifts or moves objects of a light to medium weight.
Salary/Benefits: Salary is commensurate with education and work experience. This is a part-time position and does not include insurance benefits; work hours will not exceed 29 per week. Work schedule may include day, evening, and online courses, as assigned.
