Job Description:

Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Workplace: Central State Hospital, Milledgeville, GA

Shifts include:

  • 1st shift - 7am-3:30pm
  • 2nd shift - 3pm-11:30pm
  • 3rd shift - 11pm-7:30am

  

Job Summary:

Under supervision, provides general direct nursing care to injured, ill, convalescent or disabled individuals. Care includes providing medical treatments, administering medication and giving injections.

Employment Requirements
To ensure the safety and wellbeing of our employees, individuals and communities we serve, certain positions within DBHDD may require evaluations, vaccinations, professional licensure and certifications. Licenses must be current and enable providers to practice within the State of Georgia. Other duties include:

  • Answers client calls and determine how to assist them.
  • Help clients with bathing, dressing, and personal hygiene, moving in bed, and standing and walking.
  • Observes clients, charting and reporting changes in clients’ conditions such as adverse reaction to medication or treatment, and taking any necessary action.
  • Administers prescribed medications or starts intravenous fluids and notes times and amounts on clients’ charts.

The following are a list of evaluations and vaccinations that may be required for employees, including those not involved with direct care:

  • Drug Screening
  • TB Evaluation
  • Annual Influenza*

*Limited exemptions may be made for documented medical contraindications or religious beliefs that object to vaccinations.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School diploma/GED and completion of a LPN Program through an approved Georgia Nursing Board; or a Vocational/Technical degree from an accredited college and current Georgia license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
