Job Description:

This job is a full time, benefited, FLSA non-exempt position in the Technology & Operations that reports to the Facilities Manager.

Scheduled Hours: (Job Code 30932)

Day position: Monday through Friday 7::00am – 4:00pm with occasional Saturdays and on-call rotation

Minimum Qualifications
Any combination of training and experience which would have enabled the applicant to acquire the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities

Preferred Qualifications: 

In addition to the minimum qualifications, minimum of six months experience performing custodial or minimal maintenance duties. Ability to lift and push 50lbs

Job Description Summary:

Under general supervision, supports facilities operations at Gwinnett Technical College by performing light‑duty maintenance and logistics tasks. Responsibilities include cleaning and sweeping mechanical rooms, moving maintenance materials, installing ceiling tiles, assisting technicians with tools and supplies, and conducting routine inspections of minor equipment. The role also handles trash removal, job‑site cleanup, occasional custodial support, event and furniture setup, light bulb replacement, basic painting, door hardware changes, and cleaning roof drains to help maintain safe and orderly campus facilities. Assist other divisions within the Facilities Department, as needed.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Percentage of Time:

  • Maintains proper care of technical college facilities. (30%)
  • Prepares and maintains campus facilities by setting up, arranging, and relocating tables, chairs, carts, ladders, tools, and other equipment needed to support maintenance activities. Assists with organizing and staging materials at job sites to ensure technicians have the necessary resources for efficient completion of work. (7.5%)
  • Provide oversight and follow up on work orders related to college maintenance activities. (2.5%)
  • Inspects, cleans, and organizes mechanical rooms, removing tools, ladders, and materials from maintenance tasks and returning all assets to proper storage to maintain safe and orderly spaces. (5%)
  • Performs special projects related to campus cleanliness and safety as identified by supervisor. (5%)
  • Performs a variety of duties related to the job. Performs general repairs to campus and maintenance assets. (10%)
  • Performs Facilities related duties in the absences of others, including event set-up, furniture relocation, trash removal, and other generally recognized custodial duties.  (15%)  
  • Distributes and maintains materials, tools and equipment. (10%)
  • Performs routine or as assigned logistical tasks in support of facility activities. (10%)
  • Performs other duties as assigned in the fulfillment of the needs, philosophy, and purpose of Gwinnett Technical College. (5%)
