POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

POSITION: Marketing Communications Coordinator

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Under the general supervision of the Director of Marketing, the Marketing Communications Coordinator develops and executes integrated communication strategies that support the college’s mission, enrollment goals, and community engagement efforts. The position coordinates cross channel messaging, manages media relations, and ensures cohesive communication across digital, print, and in person platforms. The coordinator is responsible for initiating, researching, writing, and responding to media requests and contributes to the effective communication of the college’s programs and services to internal and external audiences.

MAJOR DUTIES:

INTEGRATED COMMUNICATIONS & PUBLIC RELATIONS

  • Develops and contributes to integrated communication plans that unify messaging across media relations, digital platforms, print materials, and campus communications.
  • Initiates, researches, writes and responds to requests for information from the media in a timely manner; tracks activity through media monitoring tools.
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with local and regional media personnel, publications, advertising and marketing representatives, and maintains media contact database.
  • Develops and updates crisis communications plan in collaboration with campus police, security, and facilities personnel.
  • Writes and produces internal publications, including newsletters, stakeholder updates.
  • Assists in preparing speeches, talking points, fact sheets, letters, and other college related materials.
  • Communicates media coverage and releases to TCSG offices and provides requested college information.

MARKETING & CONTENT DEVELOPMENT

  • Collaborates with faculty and staff across all campuses to support communication needs and promote programs and select events.
  • Works within the marketing unit to research, edit, and/or write blogs for appropriate platforms. 
  • Assists with the distribution of marketing materials across campuses and community locations.
  • Maintains knowledge of programs of study, college services, and community characteristics to support targeted communication efforts.
  • Contributes to a high-performance, customer-focused team environment.

DIGITAL COMMUNICATION & SOCIAL MEDIA STRATEGY

  • Develops and supports strategic social medial plans aligned with integrated communication campaigns and institutional priorities.
  • Provides direction to the Digital Media Specialist to ensure consistent voice, brand alignment, and timely content delivery.
  • Oversees social media editorial calendars, campaign themes, and cross-platform messaging.
  • Analyzes social media performance metrics to identify trends, optimize engagement, and inform future strategy.
  • Captures photos and content at events, programs, and meetings for use in digital storytelling.
  • Writes scripts and contributes to video production projects supporting recruitment and program promotion.

ADMINISTRATIVE & DEPARTMENTAL SUPPORT

  • Participates in professional development to stay current on communication, media, and digital trends.
  • Assists with departmental budgeting, purchasing, and vendor management.
  • Maintains and updates marketing department guidelines and policies.
  • Records weekly media and provides detailed publicity reports to the President’s Office and the Technical College System of Georgia.
  • Manages hiring and supervision of social media or contract personnel.
  • Prepares and manages the marketing communications budget.
  • Oversees advertising placement across digital and traditional media channels.
  • Coordinates media relations activities, including news release and communication strategies.
  • Assesses the college’s digital presence and recommends improvements to strengthen visibility and engagement.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

  • Strong research, writing and editing skills, including AP style.
  • Knowledge of integrated communication planning and cross-platform messaging.
  • Knowledge of media relations practices and media tracking systems.
  • Knowledge of FERPA and commitment to confidentiality.
  • Knowledge/skill in basic digital photography and video production.
  • Knowledge of digital media platforms, analytics tools, and digital engagement strategies.
  • Skill in interpersonal communication with diverse audiences.
  • Skill in organization, time management, and attention to detail.
  • Skill in decision making and problem solving.
  • Familiarity with budget management processes.
  • Proficiency with office and digital software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field *and* Two (2) years related work experience
  • Note: Experience may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Three or more years of progressively responsible experience in marketing communications, public relations or media relations
  • Experience in writing and producing promotional materials, press releases, newsletters, website content, and supporting social media efforts
  • Experience supervising staff, interns, or student workers.

SALARY/BENEFITS: $51,373.38 annually. Benefits include paid holidays, annual leave, and the State of Georgia Flexible Benefits Program. Please be aware that Chattahoochee Tech employees will be paid by direct deposit, unless exempted by the State Accounting Office based on “hardship” evidence provided by the employee.
