Job description

Job Summary:

Under minimal supervision, provides senior expert professional support in one or more of the following areas: OMAT, maintenance, construction, intermodal, planning, utilities, surveying, environmental or traffic. May supervise subordinates or serve as a lead worker providing training to lower-level staff.

Job Specific Duties:

Under limited supervision, develop and maintain transportation project schedules using Primavera P6 in alignment with GDOT’s approved structure, including templates, WBS, EPS, activity sequencing, and project management standards. Establish accurate baseline schedules, monitor progress, and maintain critical path visibility to support consistent communication between project managers, SMEs, district staff, and consultant partners. Review schedule quality and logic to ensure all activities reflect realistic durations, proper dependencies, and statewide delivery expectations.

Support the Lead Scheduler and State Scheduling Administrator with initial schedule developments, schedule modifications, and timely revisions based on approved Project Change Request Forms (PCRFs). Ensure schedule updates meet OPC timelines and contribute to statewide performance metrics, including schedule readiness for SRC and high approval quality. Prepare and maintain baseline schedules, management date updates, and required documentation to support internal reviews and upper-management reporting.

Attend Let Status Meetings, ROW Status Meetings, District Status Meetings, Schedule Review Meetings, and other program related meetings as required. Accurately notate meeting outcomes, identify schedule impacts or necessary adjustments, and execute follow-up actions promptly. Contribute to ongoing schedule monitoring across the Construction Work Program to ensure schedule dates remain achievable.

Ensure quality and consistency of schedule data by adhering to established scheduling standards, utilizing analytics tools, and collaborating closely with OPC’s administrative workflows. This position requires a firm knowledge of the Plan Development Process, ability to assess schedule logic, and skill in identifying potential risks that could impact project timelines. Perform other scheduling duties as assigned to support statewide program delivery.

Entry Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and three (3) years of job-related experience; or an Associate degree in a related field and four (4) years of job-related experience; or (1) year of experience at position equivalent.

AGENCY SPECIFIC QUALIFCATIONS:

  • Demonstrated experience training, directing, motivating, and evaluating the work of staff and effectively planning work goals and objectives.

Experience utilizing TPRO, GeoPI, SharePoint, Bluebeam, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

  • Demonstrated ability to interpret project schedules and how they relate to the plan development process.
  • Demonstrated experience negotiating with others to find mutually acceptable solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience reading, interpreting and communicating technical information, guidelines and policies related to the job.
  • Demonstrated experience locating and recognizing pertinent information on maps and bar graphs.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated use of Primavera P6
  • Knowledge of Critical Path Method (CPM) Scheduling Software and techniques.
  • Possesses extensive knowledge of and demonstrated experience in preconstruction project activities, policies and regulations.
  • Possesses advanced level knowledge of the plan development process and how project schedules relate.
  • Possess experience with SQL and/or Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise reporting (GDOT 411)
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities readily.
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize and recommend opportunities to help the department accomplish its mission.
