POSITION: FULL TIME PROGRAM CHAIR / FACULTY – PHYICAL THERAPIST ASSISANT

PRIMARY LOCATION: DEKALB CAMPUS

ESSENTIAL JOB

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The ideal candidate for the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Program Chair will demonstrate strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills, ensuring the program’s success in fulfilling its mission and preparing students for successful careers in physical therapy assisting. Key responsibilities include developing and managing the program’s mission statement, philosophy, curriculum, syllabi, goals, and outcomes. The candidate will oversee continuous quality assessment and improvement efforts to maintain program excellence, assist in preparing and managing the department budget, and ensure compliance with college and statewide reporting requirements. Additionally, the candidate will participate in and document the development, implementation, and evaluation of the PTA education program while providing direction, mentorship, and critique to students in classroom, simulation, and clinical practice settings.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: · A Master’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution in a related field. · Active Physical Therapist or Physical Therapist Assistant license in Georgia (or eligibility to obtain licensure). · At least three years of teaching experience in a healthcare or physical therapy education program. · Experience in curriculum development and writing. · Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. · Current CPR certification. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: · Experience with accreditation processes, such as CAPTE. · Familiarity with Learning Management Systems, particularly Blackboard. · Current CPR Instructor certification. · Diverse clinical work experience in physical therapy. · Proven success in developing professional partnerships and community engagement.

SALARY/BENEFITS: The salary for this will be$72,500 annually. This is a full-time position with paid state holidays, accrued annual and sick leave, and the State of Georgia Health Flexible Benefits Program.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum qualifications for this position will be determined by the teaching discipline and compliance with appropriate accrediting bodies. Faculty must be credentialed to satisfy all appropriate accrediting bodies for the course assigned
