Annual Salary:    $80,000

Examples of Duties: The Facilities Maintenance & Construction Manager oversees the Georgia Forestry Commission’s facilities maintenance team and construction activities. This role is responsible for tasks related to the design, construction, renovation, repair, and maintenance of facilities or other structures. The position also develops strategic and long-term construction plans for the agency or institution and assists in developing internal procedures using sound principles common throughout the building and maintenance trades.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Directs facilities maintenance team in performing tasks related to the design, renovation, repair and maintenance of facilities or other structure.
• Oversees design and construction of new agency facilities.
• Manage multiple, concurrent renovation and new construction project across difference geographical locations
• Develop strategic and long-term construction plans for the agency.
• Assists in establishing internal procedures and building trade standards.
• Supervises subordinate managers and staff.
• Oversees the Macon warehouse and facilities, ensuring efficient operation and timely resolution of issues.
• Collaborates directly with the CFO to develop budget recommendations for capital projects.

Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma/GED and twelve (12) years of experience in maintenance and/or general building construction, which includes two (2) years in a managerial role; or one (1) year of experience at the lower-level Mgr. 2, Facilities Maint/Const (FEM031) or position equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in construction management or Building Construction; experience with Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) or Glue-Laminated Timber (Glulam); active Georgia General Contractor license; construction-related professional and/or leadership certifications; experience with Georgia state budgeting, procurement regulations, and competitive bidding process.
