OUR MISSION
The mission of the Georgia Student Finance Commission is to promote and increase access to education beyond high school for Georgians. To achieve this mission the commission administers state and lottery-funded student financial aid programs including the HOPE Scholarship and HOPE Grant and provides college planning and other educational services to more than 2 million Georgians through GAfutures.org. The commission seeks to improve its own operations and inform policymakers and other stakeholders through analysis, interpretation and publication of information using the extensive data collected in support of its programs.

DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Transcript Specialist to support Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship and Grant programs. This position supports both high school (STARS) and postsecondary (CHECS/PSI) transcript processes, scholarship academic eligibility evaluations, and technical support.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a primary point of contact for both High School Transcript processes (STARS/TES) and Postsecondary Eligibility systems (CHECS/PSI)
- Provide front-line customer support to high schools, and postsecondary institutions regarding HOPE and Zell Miller Scholarship and Grant eligibility requirements
- Respond to inquiries via phone, email, and web-based systems, ensuring timely, accurate, and professional communication
Transcript & Data Processing
- Review, evaluate, and process high school and postsecondary transcript data for accuracy and completeness
- Identify, investigate, and resolve data discrepancies, file errors, and rejected records
- Perform data corrections and updates in accordance with established policies and procedures
- Provide support to the manual processing of out-of-state or home study transcripts
System Support (STARS & CHECS)
- Provide client facing technical and functional support for:
- GAfutures High School Functions
- GAfutures Postsecondary Functions
- STARS (Student Transcript and Record System)
- CHECS (College HOPE Eligibility Calculation Service)
- Assist institutions with file submission processes, system access, and user account management
- Troubleshoot issues related to file formats, data extracts, and system integrations
Institution & User Support
- Guide high school and college users on transcript submission requirements, data standards, and reporting tools
- Deliver user support through phone, email, Teams, and virtual/in-person training sessions
- Communicate technical concepts in a clear, user-friendly manner for both technical and non-technical audiences
- Maintain and manage incoming support tickets, ensuring issues are tracked and resolved efficiently
Analysis & Problem Resolution
- Escalate complex eligibility or technical issues as needed and assist in resolution
- Partner with internal teams to improve processes, reduce errors, and enhance system performance
Testing & Continuous Improvement
- Participate in testing system enhancements, upgrades, and new functionality across STARS, CHECS, and GAfutures
- Provide feedback and recommendations for process improvements and system enhancements
Reporting & Documentation
- Generate and review reports to monitor transcript processing, data quality, and system performance
- Maintain accurate documentation of processes, issues, and resolutions
- Assist in developing training materials, job aids, and user documentation
Additional Responsibilities
- Support program operations and special projects as assigned
- Maintain working knowledge of HOPE program policies, regulations, and system updates
- Collaborate with team members and leadership to support overall scholarship program goals
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field or equivalent experience
- 1+ year experience in student records, financial aid, or eligibility processing
- Strong customer service experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of relevant experience
- Experience with academic transcript systems
- Experience with HOPE/Zell Miller programs

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in business or related field from an accredited college or university AND One year of experience related to area of assignment.
