Duties and Responsibilities:

Under general supervision, receive and evaluate reported suspicious activity information from public safety and citizens in support of the State of Georgia's "See Something Send Something" program.  Conduct inquiries through database checks and analysis to assist local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies with requests for information related to criminal investigations and suspicious activity reporting from a variety of submissions to include telephone, email, and all other means of correspondence. Applies knowledge of specialized computer software and related data systems in support of assignment; analyzes information on individual criminals, groups of criminals, suspect businesses, or types of criminal activity from varied sources and/or databases in order to respond to request for information. Additionally, analyze evidence, crime reports, and databases to generate reports in support of the investigation and successful prosecution of crime. Receives additional training, as required, to gain full proficiency and experience in all areas. The work is performed under the supervision of Criminal Intelligence Analyst Supervisor or sworn (LE Certified) supervisor.

Essential Job Functions: 

• This position is a part of the GISAC unit and is a 24/7 operation under the "See Something Send Something" program.
• Shift work is required on a rotating basis.
• Mainly sedentary work in an office environment which includes shared office space.
• Must be proficient with the use of a computer.
• The selected candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance, in addition, to the successful completion of a GBI background investigation. 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The incumbent will occasionally be required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop and kneel. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Make fast, repeated movements of fingers, hands, and wrists. Occasionally light lifting/or moving boxes or supplies may be required.

  

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position requires the incumbent(s) to work in an office setting which includes shared office space with other employees. This position requires the ability to work on call rotation as needed to include overnight.

 

NOTE: This position may require some travel and operating a state vehicle. A valid Georgia driver’s license is required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of professional job-related experience in criminal intelligence, military intelligence, financial analysis, investigative analysis, and/or in a law enforcement agency.--Note: An equivalent combination of knowledge, education, job or intern experience, training, or certifications that provides the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted year-over-year.
