Job Summary:**
The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) will provide comprehensive psychiatric care, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of mental health conditions, to individuals within the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities. This role involves collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated and patient-centered care.
Job Responsibilities:**
* Conduct psychiatric evaluations, diagnostic assessments, and mental status examinations for diverse patient populations across the lifespan.
* Formulate evidence-based differential diagnoses and develop individualized treatment plans, including pharmacotherapy, psychotherapy, and other therapeutic interventions.
* Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, monitoring for efficacy, adverse effects, and adherence, in accordance with state and federal regulations.
* Provide individual, and group, therapy as appropriate, utilizing various therapeutic modalities.
* Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and holistic patient care.
* Educate patients about mental health conditions, treatment options, and strategies for symptom management and recovery.
* Maintain accurate and timely electronic health records, documenting assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and medication management.
* Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and clinical supervision to enhance professional development and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
* Provide crisis intervention and emergency psychiatric services as needed.
* Adhere to ethical and legal standards of practice, including patient confidentiality and informed consent.
Job Qualifications:**
* Current and unrestricted licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) with a specialty in Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) in the state.
* Board Certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) from a recognized credentialing body.
* Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited program with a specialization in psychiatric mental health.
* Minimum of 4 years of clinical experience as a PMHNP, preferably within a public health or behavioral health setting.
* Demonstrated expertise in psychopharmacology and various psychotherapeutic modalities.
* Strong assessment, diagnostic, and treatment planning skills for a wide range of mental health conditions.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
* Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
* Proficiency in electronic health record systems.
* Knowledge of state and federal regulations pertaining to mental health care.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in physician assistant studies from an accredited college or university and six (6) years of general medicine experience; or Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and completion of a physician assistant training program of at least Twenty-four months certified by the Accreditation Review Commission of PA, ARC-PA, and certification to practice as a Physician Assistant by the Composite State Board of Medical Examiners (or eligibility to obtain within one year) and four (4) years of experience in a related area; or Master's degree in respective nursing field from an accredited college or university and four (4) years of experience in a related area and current license to practice as APRN in Georgia in the specialty area (Psychiatric specialty area requires a minimum of four (4) years mental health experience. Medical specialty requires a minimum of six years of mental health experience or two (2) years of experience at the lower level Physician Assistant/Extender 2 (HCP111) or equivalent position.Equal Employment Opportunity Employer
